Best Ever
I got ths DVD player back "remember when" It still plays today. Sure on the fast movies with a lot of action and quick edit cuts the "lyp sinc' problem occurs. All I do is stop the player for about ten seconds, stop it, not puase it. Hit play and viloa, the lips match. Usually I have to do this just once per action packed movie, sometimes twice. As for the ::c1300:: I only get that from porn videos and really smudged, finger printed, scrtached movies from Netflix or the local video store. This is my 3rd DVD player and the best I've had for what now, 8 years?

class action law suite
I am now getting the infamous c13:00 error that everyone is talking about. I WAS a hard core Sony fan, but I know now that I am not going to purchase another Sony product. The classaction if it goes through will give you a cheap rebuilt $60 sony player without any of the functions I now have or did have or a 40 credit. If you go on the Sony repair site they admit that they will not repair your unit, but will "SELL" you a rebuilt unit for $300. BEWARE of this product.

Feature PACKED
Sorry I know a lot of people have had issues with this player, but it is THE ONLY Sony product I would ever buy again. Back in the day (7yrs) ago I think I paid $400-500 for this thing, but the features are awesome. It has a built in line level surround processor. I have not seen one since in a DVD player. What this means to me is that I don't have to use a CHEAP sounding AV reciever with this unit. When I was at the peak I was running 3 all tube amps for the most pure sound out there. One for the center, one for the front, and one for the rear. I think the only thing you can find now is coaxial, or S/PDIF. This forces you to use a lame AV transistor sub-sound processor. This thing also came with nice remote with tons more features than today's DVD remotes. In conclusion; I feel for the people who had problems, but I love mine, and wish I had another.

Finally dying too
I guess I've been really lucky. After 4-5 years (?), my player's just starting to give c:13 errors - on about 20 percent of my Netflix rentals. One hint for people having problems: my player's become very sensitive to heat and shuts down frequently unless I give it very good ventilation. So try fanning your DVD player if you can't get through an entire movie. (Talk about being a slave to technology!)

Another C13/"No Disc" Victim
"Me too" review ahead. I was amazed (and relieved, in a way) at how many others here have seen the same thing I am now experiencing with this DVD player. As another person wrote, the player worked well when it worked. I've owned my DVP-S550D for over 6 years, and "fortunately", the frequent C13:00 errors didn't crop up until a year ago or so. Since then, the problem worsened: the player stopped playing DVDs it used to, no matter how clean they were. And currently, it just responds with "NO DISC" for any DVD/CD I put in. I have not contacted Sony yet; was considering trying to get it fixed, but after reading other posts here, seems better to trash it and just get a new one.
