Amazon.com Review:We were delighted with the VH920's simplicity of layout and performance. With one small box, the cable-knotting hardships of dealing with more video sources than your AV receiver can handle, are gone. If you don't have an AV receiver, don't worry--the VH920 lets you route audio and video directly into an RCA-jack-equipped television. Alternately, you can run the output of the VH920 back into an AV receiver for integration with still other audio and video sources.
All of the VH920's audio inputs, as well as its single output, are stereo RCA; the video ins and out let you choose between either composite video or S-Video. A component-video (RGB) option would be nice, but if you're using equipment of that high caliber you might want to look into a higher-end routing system. If you aren't running an S-Video output to your TV, there isn't much point in using any of the S-Video inputs, unless you have sources that don't provide composite outs.
The most pleasing thing about this video selector is its ability to learn different remote controls. Through a process that seems complicated in the instructions but is really quite simple, you can configure the switcher to respond to the power button of any remote control. The only hitch here is that you'll have to reprogram the switcher for your remotes if it loses power.
For convenience, RCA has pre-labeled four of the inputs 'satellite,' 'DVD,' 'laserdisc,' and 'VCR,' but you're by no means restricted to using them for those items. When you're ready to give cable-swapping a rest, put down the cables and pick up a VH920.
Pros: - Greatly simplifies video routing
- Easy setup
- Durable construction
- Feeds audio and video directly to a TV
Cons: - Power interruption requires reprogramming
- Does not accommodate component video

RCA VH920 Video Source Selector
This item is sold to game users but as it is mechanical not electronic it works in reverse too!
I use it to split the one signal from the cable box to up to 5 different locations, (TV, DVD etc.)
Use the buttons on the front to select where to send the signal.

RCA VH920 6-Channel Video Source Selector
PROS:
I owned the ezact same model (which lasted 6 years) before the power supply died. It worked fine for 6 years. It has a nice black, slim case with silent switch buttons.
CONS:
It is supposed to be able to "learn" various remote controls. I could never get it to learn my particular ones.
I also wish it would come in an 8-channel model as I have a lot of video sources in my living room entertainment center.

Didn't meet all my needs
I needed this unit to switch between different TiVo's. The TiVo's each can be set for a different IR set. But this unit would not learn any TiVo IR setting. What I had used previously - Radio Shack Audio Video Selector 15-1977 - had no problem with TiVo IR sets. I had to set TiVo remote, which can control different TV brands (On/Off, Volume, Input select) to some TV brand I don't own and use the TV volume to switch between different TiVo's. But this means now some of the TiVo remotes cannot control volume or switch between TV inputs like I was used to with the Radio Shack Audio Video Selector 15-1977.
The TV picture is good with this unit. The unit has a nice appearance. The front connections can be useful at times. If it had done what I needed it would have been worth the price, but now the TV control buttons for different TiVo remote's do different things, where with the Radio Shack Audio Video Selector 15-1977, they all did the same thing, just for different TiVo remote's/TiVo's.

Remote
I have tried to get the remote to work as advertised and followed the instructions but so far nothing. I have to manually press the button, very frustrating.

VH920 Video Switcher - Useful Overall
Overall the RCA VH920 Video Switcher works well for general video switching. I'd expect this until to be a good seller as it's reasonably simple to operate and inexpensive with 6 ports. Both audio and video are acceptable, and the programming directions are conveniently silk screened on the bottom.
As already mentioned, the big downfall is it loses your programmed in remote codes upon power failure. Also, programming the device codes takes a bit to figure out. I did eventually program every device (including DiSH, Panasonic DVD player, TiVo, Panasonic Stereo/Amp, Sony VCR) on any remote key I choose. I had some initial problems until I realized it usually accepted them if I continued to depress the remote key for 4 seconds or so during programming. Plus, this way I can activate any device without activating the VH920 Video Selector by depressing the remote key only long enough to activate the device (usually about 1 second). Or activate the device and the VH920 Video Selector if I depress longer (usually about 4 seconds). Just wish I didn't have to re-enter remote codes on power failure.
